On June 30th 2025, the International Centre for Biodiversity and Primate Conservation (ICBPC) held a key meeting at its headquarters within Dali University. The gathering brought together ICBPC Executive Director Dr. Cyril C. Grueter and Vice Director Dr. Paul Garber, alongside Dali University Vice President Prof. Xiao Wen, ICBPC Vice Director (and former Executive Director) Prof. Pan Ruliang (who joined online), and several committee members and affiliated researchers.
The meeting focused on reviewing the current status of ongoing research projects and outlining strategic plans for the near future. A major topic of discussion was the launch of a long-term initiative addressing human-wildlife conflicts, with an initial emphasis on primate conservation in Asia.
In addition to research planning, participants discussed the establishment of a formal collaboration with the University of Rwanda, aimed at fostering student exchanges and academic cooperation.
The meeting concluded with preliminary discussions regarding the organization of the next in-person ICBPC meeting, tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2026.
This meeting marks another step forward in ICBPC’s mission to promote global collaboration in biodiversity and primate conservation.
