ICBPC Committee Meets in Dali to Discuss Future Initiatives

ICBPC held a committee meeting in Dali on 14 August 2026 to review recent progress and discuss new research, conservation and training initiatives.

Among the key topics was the development of a new collaborative project examining tourist-macaque interactions across China and beyond, with the aim of better understanding the causes of human-macaque conflict and identifying effective management approaches.

The committee also discussed plans for a student exchange programme between Dali University and the University of Rwanda, as well as new field research on black crested gibbons in northwestern Yunnan.

The meeting also welcomed Dr Himani Nautiyal of Howard University as a new ICBPC member. Her research focuses on primate behaviour, human–primate coexistence and conservation in the Himalayas.

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen existing collaborations and develop new directions for ICBPC research, conservation and capacity building.
